Club Volleyball Information

USAV REGIONS AND MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS.

There are currently 40 regions throughout the United States. Each region is an independent, non-profit organization whose purpose is the promotion of volleyball competition on a local level as well as a national level. The local region of USA Volleyball, Gateway, was established in 1994.

The Gateway Region encompasses the eastern part of Missouri and the southern part of Illinois. Our membership comes from cities as far away as Quincy and Springfield in Illinois to Rolla and West Plains in Missouri. Our membership is growing every year and presently we have approximately 8000 members. Members include adult players, junior players, youth players, coaches, referees, scorers and parents.

YOUTH VOLLEYBALL OPPORTUNITIES

Our youth program is the largest sector of our Region with over 6200 boys and girls ranging in ages 8 through 18. Gateway has a strong Junior program with opportunities for all skill levels through a variety of Junior clubs and teams. Juniors are selected for clubs/teams following tryouts which begin in the early fall. Competition consists of local tourney play to larger national events. New clubs form yearly. A club may be as small as one team or may have unlimited numbers. Cost to play varies with the club/team and generally is based on the amount of travel planned. Fundraising events are often used to minimize the costs.

Franklin County United Philosophy

Franklin County United develops self-discipline, confidence and personal growth in young athletes by teaching them to take pride in themselves and their team. The Coaches teach young athletes the determination and responsibility it takes to be a part of a team and to be a successful athlete. Our goal as a volleyball club is to help young athletes develop life skills by teaching them to set difficult, but achievable goals. We assist young athletes to achieve these goals by fostering a personal commitment to support each other. We do this through positive encouragement and by working together as a team to build character, self-esteem and a winning attitude, while maintaining a strong sense of sportsmanship, diligence, perseverance and discipline.
