Our 3rd–6th grade students did a fantastic job during scrimmage testing this week! We were so proud of the effort, focus, and perseverance they showed as they practiced important testing skills. Opportunities like this help build confidence and prepare students to show what they truly know when it counts. Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best — we could see the difference!
Next week, we’re excited to celebrate Read Across America Week with lots of fun planned, including guest readers, family reading night, and special dress-up days to promote the joy of reading. We also invite you to mark your calendars for our upcoming school musical, Moana Junior, based on Moana! Performances will be held March 12th and 13th at the Capitol Arts Theater. Admission is free, and donations are encouraged. We hope to see you there supporting our talented students!
Do you know a remarkable WCPS graduate who deserves to be recognized? Share their story with us and click here https://bit.ly/4hsYRw1 to nominate them for our Alumni Spotlight! #PreschooltoProfession #BigDistrictBigOpportunities

Celebrate Read Across America Week by building reading into your daily routine at home! Even 10–15 minutes of reading together each night makes a big difference. After reading, ask your child to retell what happened or share their favorite part — this strengthens comprehension and helps them practice putting their thoughts into complete sentences.
Turn everyday moments into math practice by asking your child “how do you know?” when they give an answer. Whether you're counting items at the store or talking about time until an event, encouraging them to explain their thinking helps build number sense and problem-solving skills.

We have prioritized attendance this year both as a school and as a district. We have put together this information just to help our families understand how important attendance is to your child's educational progress. We thank you for partnering with us to have your child at school whenever possible!
