As we head into another great week at Lost River, we are so proud of the hard work our students continue to show each day. Classrooms are filled with learning, problem solving, and students practicing how to explain their thinking in complete and correct sentences. Thank you for making sure your child arrives on time and ready to learn each morning—those first few minutes of the day set the tone for success and help students feel confident and prepared.
We also want to thank our families for the ongoing support you provide at home. Reading together, practicing math facts, and having conversations about what your child is learning each day makes a tremendous difference in their growth. At Lost River, we are building leaders, and that happens best when school and home work together to encourage responsibility, effort, and pride in learning.

After your child reads, ask them to restate the question, answer it in a complete sentence, and prove it using the word because. This simple routine strengthens comprehension and helps students practice explaining their thinking clearly.
When working on a math problem at home, have your child talk through their steps out loud and explain why they chose that strategy. Being able to explain their thinking helps deepen understanding and builds strong problem-solving skills.
