Please make sure your TalkingPoints notifications are turned on - whether using the app or the text version.
The WCPS Board of Education approved 10 Non-Traditional Instruction Days (NTI) to be used for health and safety in the 2025-26 school year. In the case of inclement weather, an NTI day may be used and all students are expected to participate in virtual learning. Should an NTI day be used in the case of inclement weather, families will be notified through Talking Points (email and text), the media and social media.
(in the event of an emergency)
WCPS's top priority is and always has been safety. WCPS has made an adjustment to the communication to parents about emergency situations. We are adding these notification examples of what the messages you will receive immediately in the situation of a lockdown/lockout. In the event of an emergency, once additional information becomes available, Briarwood will follow the immediate message explaining the reason for the lockout/lockdown, as well as correspondence indicating the time the lockdown/lockout was lifted.

Our Healthy Kids Clinic can help if your child has an expired immunization certificate or if they are missing vaccinations! Please contact our school Nurse Cheryl for more information.
Guardians have five school days to turn in an excuse note for a student's absence. You may send in a note through your child's folder or email it to briarwoodattendance@warren.kyschools.us. Guardians may use up to seven parent notes and ten doctor's notes per school year.
Safety is the number one priority for WCPS. To enter the building, you MUST show a picture ID to the camera once you ring the doorbell. No ID means no entry! We have partnered with Raptor Technologies for visitor management screening. ALL VISITORS will be required to use our Raptor Visitor system anytime you are visiting our campus. Once your picture ID is scanned with the initial process, the future sign-ins will be much quicker. You will still need to have your ID with you, but you will be able to go through a shorter/faster process as you enter the building.
If you need to change the way your child will go home and you were not able to send a note in their folder, please send an email to briarwoodtransportation@warren.kyschools.us. All transportation changes must be in writing and before 2pm on the day of the change. We will verify that the email address belongs to the parent/guardian and will send a reply back to let you know we got the change.
Briarwood Blue Slips
This is a picture of Briarwood's Blue Slip. At Briarwood, Blue Slips are a proactive approach to increase positive behavior and part of our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions Systems & Supports) initiative. Blue Slips are earned by students from faculty and staff throughout the day. Earning a Blue Slip means the student is seen following our Guidelines for Success. The Guidelines for Success are shown above on the Blue Slip. Each classroom has a Blue Slip Winner every other Friday during our Celebratory Morning Meeting. Prizes are given to each Blue Slip Winner! In addition each classroom and/or grade level set a Blue Slip Goal. The reward for attaining these whole group goals is often hat day, pajama day, popsicle party, popcorn party, technology time, extra recess or anything else the group decides.
Friendly reminders for parents picking up/dropping off car riders:
1. To speed up AM drop off, please have all of your child's belongings such as a backpack on PRIOR to entering the car rider loop.
2. Students must load and unload on the passenger side of the vehicle and parents MUST STAY in your vehicle for the safety of your child as well as other children.
3. The line enters on Ironwood Drive and NOT Steeplechase Way. If coming from Steeplechase Way, turn RIGHT and find the end of the line.
4. If you do not have your car rider tag, you will need to pull around to the front of the building and pick your student up in the office with an ID.
5. DO NOT pass other vehicles unless directed by the person at loading spot #1.
All of these will make for a smoother and safer arrival and departure daily if your child is a car rider. Thank you!
Briarwood will now be able to allow visitors for lunch! When arriving at school, you will be asked to check-in at the office and scan your picture ID into our Raptor Visitor System. All families wishing to go to lunch with their student will be asked to join them on our white circle tables (but not the nut allergy table). ONLY your child will be allowed to eat with you in this area. Adult visitors will now be allowed to purchase a school lunch. Additionally, outside food is not allowed in the cafeteria.
