On Feb. 24 the WKU Engineering Department held a LEGO Robotics competition. Two teams represented HMMS. Out of nine teams, the Dragons tied for 2nd place!
For 4 Thursdays starting in February a group of our robotics students had the chance to take a trip to the 212 academy. The 5th and 6th grade students were learning about coding. HMMS students took their knowledge and taught the GT students at the academy about building and programming the LEGO Mindstorm robots.
Students learned basic programs the fist 2 weeks. Week 3 they learned how to follow a line using a light sensor to compare the reflected light intensity.
Week 4 we held our very own Sumobot competition. Students had 1 and 1/2 hour to build, program, and test their robot. We then held a double elimination tournament. This day was by far everyone´s favorite!
