Attendance
I will attend all designated curriculum sessions. If I am unable to attend a session i.e. medical appointment or sporting fixtures, I will notify staff by email at least 48 hours in advance; Note, you may need to attend a catch up session where possible.
In the event that I accrue 2 unauthorised absences, I will be given an official warning. If a third unauthorised absence follows, I will be unable to continue with the Duke of Edinburgh award and my place withdrawn;
I will attend the practice walk and the expedition weekend on the designated dates.
Attendance in school the days immediately after the practice walk and the expedition is also expected.
Behaviour & representation of the school
I understand the school behaviour policy and will follow this at all times during curriculum sessions and on expeditions;
I also understand the school’s behaviour policy will be used during curriculum sessions and on expeditions. If sanctioned with an ‘orange’ 3 times or more in a half term, I will be unable to continue with the Duke of Edinburgh award and my place will be withdrawn;
When off site during curriculum sessions, practice walks or the expedition, I will represent the school in an appropriate and mature way. I also recognise the importance of this to ensure the health and safety of myself and those around me;
If my behaviour brings the school or its community into disrepute, or the incident is deemed to be serious and considered a health and safety risk, I will be unable to continue with the Duke of Edinburgh award and my place will be withdrawn.
Character for learning (and for your enjoyment and success!)
I will be ready to make valuable contributions, to be a proactive team player, independent and resilient throughout the course;
I will be punctual and organised for curriculum sessions and expeditions. When required, I will be readily equipped with appropriate clothing and kit;
Failure to meet deadlines will result in a review of my place on the course;
I will be respectful, kind and supportive to all at all times.
Withdrawal from the programme
Where reference is made to a student’s place being ‘withdrawn’ due to unauthorised absences, the following procedure will be followed: the first instance of an unauthorised absence will be logged on Go4Schools; a second will be logged on Go4Schools, an email or phone call home will be made and an official warning given to the student; a third unauthorised absence will result in the student’s place being withdrawn.
Please be advised, refund of any monies paid once a child's place has been withdrawn will be on application. This will be dependent upon the stage of the programme at which the place is withdrawn.
