Foundational EML

Full Year - 5 credits
Foundational EML (English for Multilingual Learners) is a course for foundational level students in the ELE (English Language Education) program. Through this course, students will work toward the development of their interpretive and expressive language and literacy proficiencies in English in the domains of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This course is designed to develop academic vocabulary, language conventions, and linguistic complexity in English for success in the content classroom.
Transitional EML
Open to: Transitional MLs in the ELE Program
Full Year - 5 credits
Transitional EML (English for Multilingual Learners) is a course for transitional level students in the ELE (English Learner Education) program. Through this course, students will work toward the progression of their interpretive and expressive language and literacy proficiencies in English, as well as toward exit from the ELE program. This course is designed to advance academic vocabulary, language conventions, and linguistic complexity in English for success in the content classroom.
ELE English Language Arts I

ELE English I is designed to provide the language of the content area of English language arts to foundational students in the ELE (English Language Education) program. Through this course, students will work toward the progression of their interpretive and expressive English language and literacy proficiencies within the English language arts content area. Advancement in the use of linguistic complexity, language conventions, and academic vocabulary in English will be the focus of this course.
ELE English Language Arts II

ELE English II is designed to advance the language of the content area of English language arts for transitional students in the ELE (English Language Education) program. Through this course, students will continue to work toward the progression of their interpretive and expressive English language and literacy proficiencies within the English language arts content area. Advancement in the use of linguistic complexity, language conventions, and academic vocabulary in English will be the focus of this course.
ELE Algebra I

ELE Algebra I is designed to provide the language and content of Algebra I to foundational students in the ELE (English Language Education) program. Through this course, students will work toward the progression of their interpretive and expressive English language and literacy proficiencies within the Algebra I content area. Advancement in the use of linguistic complexity, language conventions, and academic vocabulary in English through the Algebra I content will be the focus of this course.
ELE Social Studies

ELE Social Studies is designed to provide the language of the content area of social studies to foundational students in the ELE (English Language Education) program. Through this course, students will work toward the progression of their interpretive and expressive English language and literacy proficiencies within the social studies content area. Advancement in the use of linguistic complexity, language conventions, and academic vocabulary in English through the content of social studies will be the focus of this course.
ELE Math & Literacy Lab
Open to: MLs in the ELE Program
Full Year - 5 credits
ELE Math & Literacy Lab provides instruction in the skills necessary for academic and linguistic success in core content math courses and in the practical application of these skills throughout other core content classes. Through this course, multilingual learners in the ELE program will work toward the requisite skills for academic growth in mathematics while advancing their linguistic proficiencies in English. In addition, students will apply these concepts to make cross-curricular connections throughout other content areas.
Newcomer Math
Open to: Newcomers (students in their first 12 months in United States schools)
