Description
The Online Work from Home option is designed to allow students to fulfill graduation requirements through a computer-based program aligned with state and district curriculum. Failure to follow course guidelines may result in removal from the course and the option to work on the course from home.
Time Requirements
Students have the entire semester to complete their assigned course(s). The last day to complete an Online Work from Home course for Spring 2017 is Thursday, May 18, 2017. Students must login in for a minimum of 3 hours each week. If the student is not completing their coursework in a timely manner, he or she may be removed from the program and the current grade, including incomplete work, will be recorded on the student’s transcript. The current grade will most likely impede successful recovery of course credit. In addition, students who are not active for 10 consecutive school days may be unenrolled from their online courses as well as the school.
Supplies
Students will need to have access to a computer that can connect to the Internet. The program does not work well with mobile devices (phones, iPads, tablets, etc.), so a laptop or desktop computer is required. The website for coursework can be accessed 24 hours a day from home: http://walkerschoolsite.owschools.com
Curriculum and Grading
Each student will be assigned computer-based coursework to be completed by the target completion date, which is Thursday, May 18, 2017. Students are evaluated and credited when all course objectives have been met. If anything less than a passing grade is earned, the student will need to retake the course. Students will recover their course credit with 70% mastery of the course performance standards. Their final grade for the recovered class will be determined by the following:
Assessment Procedures
Course grades for non-EOC courses will be calculated using the following formula:
Course grades for EOC courses will be calculated the same way as a non-EOC course for 80% of the grade. The other 20% of the grade will be the score from the EOC text.
Mid-term and final tests must be taken in the presence of a certified teacher. Progress will be blocked until a teacher administers the midterm or final.
Expectations and Behavior
The Credit Recovery program is an opportunity, not a requirement. As such, students are required to maintain top quality adherence to the following:
Students who do not comply with these policies may be removed from the program and not allowed to continue to work on courses from home.
