I was honored to become a part of Rambler Nation in 2023 as a member of the English Department. I have taught 10th grade ELA, was a liaison for several dual enrollment classes, and was an online facilitator for Edgenuity courses. Although I love my ELA family, my passion has always been counseling, so I am super excited to get the opportunity to join the LHS Counseling Team. I just finished my 27th year in education, which has included teaching English grades 5-12, 7th and 8th grade science, seven years as a middle school counselor, and three years teaching high school English at an alternative school. I am originally from a small town in south Mississippi. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary English Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1996 and my master's in School Counseling from Middle TN State University in 2009. I am a proud mother of two amazing daughters. Kristen (23) is finishing her master's degree in chemical engineering at the University of Alabama Huntsville. Carmen (20) just finished her associate's degree and is starting Middle TN State University in the fall to continue her law degree. Outside of work, I love to travel, garden, cook, and participate in just about anything that is outdoors. I am looking forward to helping our incoming 9th graders successfully navigate the unchartered waters of high school and become an important member of our Rambler Nation family! Welcome Class of 2029!!
