Who Is Assessed?
Georgia Milestones is administered on the computer and includes the following:
Technology-enhanced items in all grades and courses,
Open-ended (constructed response) items in English language arts in all grades and courses,
A writing component (in response to passages read by students) at every grade level and course within the English language arts assessment,
A reported Lexile score based on the English language arts assessment in all grades and courses, and
Estimated norm-referenced performance ranges for all grades and courses.
The Georgia Milestones American Literature and Composition EOC Study/ Resource Guide for Students and Parents is intended as a resource for parents and students. This guide contains information about the core content ideas and skills that are covered in the course. There are practice sample questions for every unit. The questions are fully explained and describe why each answer is either correct or incorrect. The explanations also help illustrate how each question connects to the Georgia state standards. The guide includes activities that you can try to help you better understand the concepts taught in the course.
These Assessment Guides are provided to acquaint Georgia educators and other stakeholders with the structure and content assessed on the End of Grade (EOG) and End of Course (EOC) measures. These guides are not intended to substitute for the state-adopted content standards. The guides are a supplemental resource and are provided to complement, not replace, other instructional resources developed by the local school district or the example resources provided by the Curriculum and Instruction Division of the Georgia Department of Education. In principle, the EOG Assessment Guides are intended to be descriptive of the assessment program and should not be considered all-inclusive.
Most students have at least some knowledge of the content described in the content standards; however, achievement levels succinctly describe how much mastery a student has. Achievement levels give meaning and context to scale scores by describing the knowledge and skills students must demonstrate to achieve each level. The four achievement levels on Georgia Milestones are Beginning Learner, Developing Learner, Proficient Learner, and Distinguished Learner.
