Y9 Snowsports Programme

Welcome to the Y9 Snowsports Programme website!

Here you will find all the information you will need to enjoy an awesome 5-week programme; whether you choose to ski or board is entirely up to you!

FAQs

Do I need my own equipment?

You do not need to own your own boots/skis/snowboard; all of the technical equipment is included in the price of the programme. If you do own your own equipment, you're more than welcome to bring this with you on the mountain transport, but it is not allowed on the school buses.

What clothing will I need?

For the Snowsports Programme, you must bring all items on the clothing list with you every Friday, this will be checked before departing school. Please note that missing items may mean that you cannot attend the mountain on that day.

How much does it cost?

Click here for a breakdown of the Snowsports Programme costing.

What if I've never skied/snowboarded before?

It doesn't matter! There is a lesson available for every ability, from complete beginner to expert. The instructors at Coronet Peak are super friendly and are there to look after you. Click here for the NZSki guide to ability levels.

How do I know what 'level' ability I am?

NZSKi Ability Level Guide

I already know how to ski/board, do I still have to have lessons?

Yes. All students, regardless of their ability, will be in lessons during one of two 85 minute sessions. There is a lesson level to suit everyone - please click here for a description of each level.

What if I don't want to ski or board?

This is a compulsory Health & PE programme for Y9 students - please see Miss Murray or Miss Scott individually if you have any medical issues that you feel may prevent participation in this programme.

What should I wear/bring to school?

Come to school dressed in your snowsports gear - you will be departing school at 9am.

Will we be back in time for the school bus?

Yes. We leave the mountain at 2:20pm so will be back in plenty of time for students to unload the mountain buses to be able to catch the school bus.
