There are many newly available technologies we can use to help horsemen on the streets.
The horse elevator is a technique that horseback riders can use on sloped roads. It allows horses to enter a small enclosed box that will go up a cable to the following intersection. The horse elevator is especially useful on streets, such as the well-known Lombard Street, that go almost directly upward. Horses cannot ascend such terrain, so the horse elevator is very useful.
The Signpost Tail-Connector, or STC for short, is a sign holder you can attach to the tail of a horse (it also has a strap connecting it to the saddle) that can bear a sign to drivers, such as "DON'T RUN OVER SUCH A LOVELY EQUINE," "I'M NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH THE YELLOW LIGHT," or "I'M A PROUD FCHA HORSE."
While they definitely aren't a new technology, or even a technology at all, horse lanes can help drivers who are mad at the horses in front of them by separating horses from standard traffic. We at the FCHA find it deeply unfair that bikes get so much prestige (their own lane, sometimes even their own traffic light signal) and are outraged that horsemen do not have the same status.
