At Te Kura o Waima we believe in giving positive affirmation to tamariki seen as making the right choices. The eventual aim is for the behaviour of all tamariki to be for intrinsic reasons. To facilitate this, vouchers are the reward system in place.
Vouchers
These are vouchers earned for positive behaviours
These must all be given out each day, there is no limit.
Every student must receive at least one voucher per week.
Students can earn vouchers by demonstrating the core values (whanaungatanga, ako, integrity, manaaki, aroha) in the classroom, the playground or an EOTC event.
The voucher has the awardee’s name entered on the voucher and placed in the large jar outside the staffroom. These go into the end of year draw. The winner receives a $50.00 Warehouse voucher.
WAIMA Certificates
As a guideline, aim to have students achieve these certificates around the end of each year.
There is no restriction on how many students may achieve certificates and will also enjoy a special acknowledgment for achieving this award.
Top Award wristbands are achieved in the 4th term to coincide with end of year WAIMA graduate reports.
Vouchers do not carry over from one year to the next. Rewards may change from time to time to ensure that they are seen as desirable by the students.
All Award winners will have their photos and names in the newsletter and are given accolades at Assembly.
All students will receive Awards.
Lucky Draws
WAIMA Lucky draws are drawn every fortnight assembly, these students receive 30 minutes extra free play.
