Possible daily timetable
Making a schedule will help you and your family clarify their expectations of the day. Below is a possible timetable that you might like to use. This is just a suggestion, please feel free to modify this to suit the needs of you and your family. You might like to consider building in times for your child/ren to do some learning, some moving, time for them to work independently, and time for them to get attention from you. Consider everyone’s needs including yourself so that your daily schedule has time for you to work, exercise, and do your typical (or close to it) daily life.
Here are a series of videos to help you to support your child with their online learning. If you require further clarification or information please email your child's class teacher.
Our class sites are where students access their learning. Each subject area has a seperate page. Please view the video to the left to see a simple guide to navigating our class site.
It is important for us to maintain connection with our classes during distance learning. To facilitate this, we have set up a daily meeting time at 9-9:45am to meet with our classes in an online space. During this time, we will read together, connect with each other and have the chance to answer questions. Please view this video to see how to access the meeting. It is important that children have their microphones muted unless asking a question. We also ask that students follow the protocol for leaving the meeting by staying in the meeting until the teacher personally waves them goodbye and then the teacher disconnects them from the chat.
It is important that our students have a system to file their documents in their google drive. This means activities are easy to find for students and easy for teachers to access to provide feedback for students. We use the acronym SMRF to help students file documents. They Stop, Make a copy of a document, Rename their document, File it in the appropriate folder. This video gives an overview of this process.
Readworks is a site where students can access set tasks with reading passages and comprehension questions.
Sunshine Classics is a site where there are books loaded for students to read set at their level. These range from level 1-30. There are reading responses and the ability to record themselves reading so we can listen to them.
e-ako Maths is a site where there are sections of Maths topics loaded for students to work through at their level. These have been aligned to the New Zealand Maths Curriculum and work on Number Strategies, Number Knowledge and Strategies. As work is completed they gain points and awards.
All students have their own individual BLOG. Plus the Syndicate has a blog as well. This video will show you how to get to your child's blog through the Syndicate Blog. These are Learning blogs so children use them to post work they are completing to connect with other learners and gain feedback. Over the first two weeks of lockdown we have encouraged students to post some of the activities they are doing with their families. This builds connections and helps them really understand that we are all in this together and going through similar things.
Study ladder provides students with access to a range of content assigned by their class teacher. Students complete set activities related to their current learning. Please click on the video for an introduction to this tool.
