Updated Sports Calendar for 2025 now available.
Relays, sprints, throwing and jumps...it's all there at the Waiheke High School Athletics Day.
We encourage all our students to participate in Athletics day, weather its to win an event or get a participation point for their house
One of the only schools to run a beach day in New Zealand, Waiheke High School students get to participate and earn points for their house in swimming, kayaking, beach volleyball, touch rugby, sand flag races, relays and tug o'war.
Waiheke High School is part of the Central Zone sports (for year 7 and 8) and College Sport leagues and tournaments (central zone for Year 9-13). This means we compete with other intermediates and high schools in the central Auckland area in various sport codes. There are additional costs involved for students to be part of these sports teams, but we try and keep these costs as low as we can so as to ensure everyone has an opportunity to join in.
Various one day tournaments and leagues run throughout the year, with Central Zone sports for year 7 and 8s only running single day events, and College Sport offering a mix of single day and sport leagues such as football, volleyball and netball.
Generally speaking, you'll see swimming, tennis, athletics, cricket, volleyball, waka ama touch and tag running in Term 1. Term 2 will introduce winter sports such as football, rugby, rippa rugby, netball and futsal, with Year 9 and up Waiheke High School teams taking part in football leagues and netball leagues as well as one day tournaments for these winter sports. Term 3 will continue with netball as well as cross country, and rugby league with Term 4 rounding off the year with touch rugby, badminton, athletics (year 7-8) and basketball.
