Following assessments of school campuses and surrounding community conditions, the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (HIDOE) will keep public schools and offices closed statewide on Monday, Aug. 17.
The additional closure will allow time to complete campus safety assessments, restore utilities where necessary and address storm-related impacts.
The Department will continue working with county and state partners and will provide updates regarding Tuesday's operations as additional information becomes available.
"Mahalo to Mrs. Asano for allowing me to visit her classroom and see the tremendous work her 5th grade students did on their Inca projects. I loved listening to all of her students share stories about the Inca empire. I admired looking at all of the intricate details in each of their dioramas. Great job 5th graders! So proud of you. Check out their projects in this album below" - Ms. Soriano
