Homework, classwork, labs, etc. (Formative Assessments) - 30% weighted
Final Models, Quizzes, Tests (Summative Assessments) - 70% weighted
Cumulative final exam - 10% of overall grade

What to expect:
You will have work to do every day in my class whether it is a lab, classwork or a homework assignment.
I will not grade every assignment that I give you. All assignments are intended to give you an opportunity to practice the concepts & skills we are learning, as well as prepare you for the unit test & final exam. I will choose key assignments as we work through the units to add to the gradebook in Skyward as a measure of your progress that will contribute to your final grade in the class.
In order to be considered "passing" and receive credits towards graduation, students must earn at least a 60% (D-) for their overall grade at the end of the semester.
Zoology is an elective so it is not a required course. You are required to have passed both Biology & Chemistry as a prerequisite to taking this course. It is not a honors, AP or dual credit class.

The key to doing well is to take good notes and do the homework. My tests are very reflective of the notes & homework assignments.
Fill out the study guides I give you for the test. They are essentially the test questions. Participate in the reviews we do in class.
If you started but didn't finish an assignment, I still encourage you to turn in what you did do. Unless the assignment was specifically for completion points, I will still provide points for the work that was completed even if it wasn't finished.
