How to Get Involved

The Northeast Canada Jay Survey needs YOU!

Do you live in the Northeastern United States, like to recreate outdoors in or near boreal or subalpine forests, and/or are a bird enthusiast? If so, we are looking for volunteers just like you. Our study relies on information from citizen scientists to:

  1. Help us find our study subjects. We know where some Jays are located, but our study will be much more robust the more information we have on the range and distribution of the Canada Jays in the Northeast.

  2. Help us to better understand what interactions Canada Jays are having with humans. We can't be everywhere at once, so with your help we can gather a much larger data set on how often and what types of interactions the Jays have with or near humans across the Northeast.

Data will be summarized and shared with participants at the end of each field season. If you are interested in participating, please fill out the Google Form below. The form can be filled out more than once, on any different location/occasion you encounter a Canada Jay. No personal information will be shared with anyone other than the Principal Investigators of this study. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
