The holidays have officially arrived, and with them come all the joyful traditions: planning gatherings, making beloved seasonal recipes, and searching for the perfect gifts. While the excitement builds at home, our classrooms remain focused and busy. Teachers are putting in tremendous effort to help students stay on pace, catch up where needed, and head into the end of the semester feeling confident and prepared.
As final exams draw near, now is a great time to check in with your student. Some will be aiming to protect a strong grade, while others may be looking to earn those last few points to raise theirs. Reviewing assignments and grades in the Infinite Campus parent app, connecting with teachers about strategies for success, and reaching out to your student’s counselor can all make a meaningful difference.
From our BHS family to yours, we wish you a season filled with success, warmth, and celebration!
Respectfully,
Your BHS Counseling Team

Here are some quick notes about the FAFSA:
Parents are referred to as contributors in the form
The student generally starts the FAFSA first and invites the parents as contributors.
Students and any contributors should have their own personal FSA ID before starting the FAFSA application. You can create one right now to start preparing for the FAFSA by clicking here.
Here are some walkthroughs to better prepare you for the application:
Student FAFSA Application Walkthrough - this is the standard application process for a dependent student
Student adding more schools to their FAFSA after Submission - Here your student has decided to apply to more colleges after original FAFSA submission
Student amending their contributors - In this walkthrough a student may have added an incorrect email for a parent and needs to change it on a submitted FAFSA.
Parent FAFSA Application Walkthrough - This is the general walkthrough for a parent completing their portion of their students FAFSA. This walkthrough picks up when you open the emailed invite from your student, once they have started and completed their portion of the application.
Parent starts the FAFSA for their student - this walkthrough is when the parent is beginning a new FAFSA application on behalf of their child. *It is recommended that your student initiates the FAFSA application and invites you.
Looking ahead to holiday gatherings, events and activities may fill you with anticipation and excitement, along with a little angst. You may feel that build-up of anxiety as the holidays approach. According to a recent APA poll, nearly one in three Americans expects to be more stressed this holiday season than last year.
It’s easy for children to be smitten with the magic of the holidays. Fun presents. Extra sweets. A vacation from school—there’s a lot to like. But with the freedom and excess of the season, sometimes kids can get a little carried away. For most families, there will be a point when the kids get overtired and cranky, or greedy about presents, or would rather play a video game than talk to Grandma. Here are some tips to keep kids happy and ready to enjoy whatever the season brings.
The older you get, the trickier it can be to pick out the best gifts for teens. It’s only natural; eventually the things that once defined your formative years—Tamagotchis, Jordache jeans, iPhones with home buttons—get replaced, leaving you wondering what the kids are actually into these days. We went straight to the source, polling our own teens, our nieces and nephews in high school and college, and our interns, and yes, we spent a lot of hours scrolling TikTok. These are the gifts all the teenagers in our lives said they actually wanted this year.
