The summer has come to a close, and a new school year is underway! Last month, Dr. Pascavage met with each grade level to help students begin the year with confidence and direction. Now, as September rolls on, students are settling into their daily routines, and our newest members of the school community are becoming more comfortable finding their way around the building. The energy on campus is buzzing—fall sports are in full swing, and students are showing their school spirit by competing and cheering on their teams.
To keep the momentum going, students are encouraged to stay organized by keeping track of assignments, setting goals for the semester, and building good study habits early. Getting involved in clubs and activities is also a great way to connect with peers and strengthen the sense of community. With this enthusiasm, dedication, and involvement, the foundation is set for a successful, engaging, and memorable school year ahead!
Respectfully,
The BHS Counseling Team

Seniors- Counselors will be meeting with our seniors one on one this month. We want to make sure they have a solid plan in place for whatever they are choosing to do after high school. We want them to feel comfortable in knowing everything they have to do, should be doing, and their next steps. We will also be hosting a Financial Aid Night presentation for parents and students the night of September 10th (details in the "what's going on" section below)
Juniors- The Junior students will be attending a presentation this month walking them through what they need to know for the year regarding their post-secondary planning. They should be taking advantage of all the college representative visits coming to the school. This is the year that they are figuring out where they will receive an education after high school and they should be going to visit every college/trade/or career presentation to be gathering information. This is also the year parents should start signing up to take their students and get onto college campuses to see first hand everything these schools have to offer.
Sophomores- This month our Sophomores will be going to a presentation recapping freshman year, their grades, GPA's, and future success. Now that they have a year of high school under their belts we will be exploring what they have learned and help them start connecting the dots between academic success and future success. Over the course of the year we will be focused on career search in hopes that your student can identify one or two careers of interest by Junior year.
Freshman- The freshman student will receive a presentation on all things high school, the goal is to familiarize them with how high school works for grades, credits, where to find supports, clubs, sports, and much more. We will also be meeting with our freshman one on one starting near the end of the month as a way to check in and see how they are adjusting to high school life and answer any questions they may have.
September 10th from 6pm - 7pm
Location: BHS Cafeteria for English Speakers / BHS ROTC Drill Hall for Spanish Speakers
Please join us for a presentation by ISAC on Wed. September 10th at 6:00pm. If you have any questions please contact Tim Hilton at hiltonj@vvsd.org or at 630-679-3437.
