G.R. Kare College of Law was established in 1979, fulfilling the visionary dream of the esteemed Late Govind Ramnath Kare, who aspired to provide accessible legal education to the residents of South Goa. What began modestly in a rented premise has now evolved significantly, making substantial contributions to the bureaucracy, judiciary, and various other critical sectors. On September 21, 2001, the institution was inaugurated by Shri Arun Jaitley, the then Union Law Minister, marking the opening of its new building equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
The college library, a vital knowledge repository, is strategically located, occupying a significant portion of the ground floor. As the student body has grown, so has the library’s collection. With the introduction of various courses such as LL.B. (Degree), B.A.LL.B., LL.M., and numerous certificate programs, the library has enriched its collection of reference books, journals, and reports. Furthermore, it has embraced modernization by automating its housekeeping operations and services using the Koha library management software.
