According to AVID's research, published in American Secondary Education in 2013 which examined the impact that AVID in middle school settings has on middle school course rigor and on students’ college readiness later in high school. "When compared to students who only enrolled in AVID while in high school, students who enrolled in AVID in both middle school and high school had significantly higher GPAs, were more likely to complete four-year college entrance requirements, and were more likely to take an AP course"
