COS and Other College Courses - FAQ
Do COS and college courses count for CSF?
The answer to this question is always YES. COS and college courses, even if their specific titles are not on our course list, DO COUNT for your CSF application as long as they're courses that qualify for CSF (PE, even if taken at COS, will never count for CSF and neither will summer courses).
Do COS and other college courses count for a point bump as AP and honors classes do?
The answer to this question is always NO. There's NO point bump awarded for COS classes or other college classes, even Dual Enrollment courses offered on our campus. Please DO NOT assign your COS classes a point bump when filling out your application.
How do I know where my COS or college class fits on the different lists?
You follow the same general rule as the courses listed on our approved course list:
If a course is required for you to graduate and is considered a CORE class (English, Math, Science, Social Science, World Language), if it's a course you took at COS or another college, then it would count for List 1.
If a course has academic rigor in that there are high expectations similar to those of a core class, then it would fall under List 2 - think Intro to Psychology, Geography, Geology, etc.
If a course is an elective it is always List 3. Fashion Design, Photography, etc. It's perfectly fine to take electives at COS or another college and use them to apply for CSF.
