The mission of the GAMS school counseling program is to provide all students with a comprehensive school counseling program centered around an engaging curriculum that encourages the highest level of student achievement through their growth in academic and social/emotional domains. GAMS Counseling will work in partnership with teachers, administrators, parents, and the community to help build futures for all students.
Students can check in with the school counselor for many reasons, including:
Academic help (help with skills such as organization, time management, study skills, and more!)
Social Help (help with a friendship problems, and more!)
Personal help (help with understanding and managing your feelings, feeling anxious or sad, and more!)
Students can click to request to speak with the School Counselor
All student interactions with the School Counselor are confidential. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality:
Student talks about wanting to hurt themselves
Student talks about hurting others
Student talks about others are hurting them or about knowing of someone else who is getting hurt.
In these situations, the School Counselor must break confidentiality and inform another trusted adult to get the student the help or support they need.
Due to distance learning, if a student requests a Zoom meeting with the School Counselor, an AP will be present on the Zoom meeting.
