Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a cost for this program?

The program is free and open to all Vernon Township middle school-aged students.

Is attendance mandatory?

Studies show that consistent attendance in this program greatly benefits the whole child, including social and emotional well-being, collaborative and life skills, and academics. Students who enroll must be attending on a fairly consistent basis. If a student is involved in other activities, please just let the Program Director know and a schedule can be worked out.

What happens on early dismissals or days the school/district is closed?

The GMMS 21st CCLC will be closed on early dismissal days and whenever schools are closed. Parents/guardians will receive notification when the 21st CCLC is closed and a monthly calendar and newsletter will be provided.

Is there a schedule of events for the program?

A schedule will be provided to students and parents/guardians and a calendar will also be given to highlight program closures, field trips, parent workshops, and other events.  This will be handed out every month.  Students can choose activities such as STEAM, Theatre, Robotics, Engineering,  and more. There is a physical activity and homework support daily for every student, along with a  complimentary snack.

Is there transportation provided?

Students must be picked up by a parent/guardian. There is no transportation to send the students home. Transportation WILL be provided for field trips and students will be brought back to the school for parent pick-up.

What  is the procedure for inclement weather or emergency closings?

If Glen Meadow Middle School runs an early dismissal or closes due to inclement weather, the 21st CCLC after-school program is closed.  There is also a  REMIND for the 2023-2024 school year. Please text  "@cclc202" to 81010.

How can parents/guardians get involved in the program?

Parents and guardians will have the opportunity to  visit the program and see how their child is progressing in the program. There will be monthly family engagement activities where families are invited into the program to see what we have been learning and creating.  Parents are also welcome to volunteer  for a student activity or chaperone a field trip.  Additionally, we have an Advisory Board that parents are encouraged to join to discuss the program's successes and goals in order to continue improving for our students. We welcome parent/guardian involvement and always appreciate the support!
