Final Design

Final Design Components:

Overview

The final design is a 40 ft span prefabricated beam bridge with a deck width of 14 ft and a depth of 3.2 ft, that will tie into the existing road. This structure has a design life of 75 to 100 years, an estimated time of construction of 1.5 days, and a total cost estimate, including the bridge structure, sills, geotechnical work, and structural engineer, of a little over $55,000.

The under-bridge stream corridor was iteratively designed to minimize the span of the of the crossing while also maximizing hydraulic capacity and streambed stability.

This design conveys the 10-year discharge of 525 cfs without overtopping, maintains the natural stream bottom to allow for aquatic organism passage, and has ample load capacity to ensure safe passage for vehicles.
