The 4-H Youth Livestock Program is the largest animal science project area, helping youth develop their interest in beef cattle, sheep, meat goats, and swine. Participants learn about selecting, caring for, and feeding livestock, animal health, and the importance of good record keeping. The program emphasizes life skill development.
Program Goals:
Encourage personal growth and development
Have fun while learning practical life skills
Develop effective leadership in youth and adults
Foster responsible citizenship skills
Activities: Youth development occurs through 4-H project work, club meetings, demonstrations, community service, and various 4-H events at the club, county, district, state, regional, national, and international levels.
