Partnering with the culturally Tibetan community to improve quality of life and ultimately preserve Tibetan culture.

Dhumba is a small village located in Jomsom of the Mustang district in the Dhawalagiri Zone of the Western Development Region of Nepal. Dhumba’s elevation is approximately 9,000 feet. The village consists of 47 households and a population of approximately 250. In this semi-arid region of Nepal (307 mm/y precipitation), irrigation is critical for successful farming. The village has historically used a river-fed, ditch-based irrigation water distribution system to provide  water for the community; however, the irrigation system was damaged during the April 2015 earthquake and is no longer functional. The goal of this project is to repair and improve the efficiency of the earthquake damaged irrigation system to increase agricultural productivity and livelihoods in the Dhumba community.
