4-H'ers will purchase a 50 to 60 pound pig in early June. The Extension Office purchases these pigs from one producer to ensure that they are all the same age and approximate weight and size. Youth will raise and care for the pig throughout the summer and receive tickets to bring their pig to the 4-H Market Hog Show at the Russell County Fair. Project Books are to be completed and returned following the completion of the Russell County Fair. The pigs are estimated to cost $100.00.
