Exhibition for small animals and showmanship/costume contest for goats. A Premium will be paid for Grand Champions of each category on top of the prizes for blue ($4), red ($3), and white ($2) ribbons.

Requirements
competition ages 9-18 as of 09/30/2026
Cloverbud ages 5-8 can enter in a non competitive show
open to youth in Dinwiddie, Prince George, Amelia, Greensville/Emporia, Sussex, Nottoway, and Brunswick (4-H membership not required, but paperwork will be on site to sign)
must provide own cage (no larger than 18"x36")
poultry, fowl, rabbits, and guinea pigs must be kept on fairgrounds through the duration of the fair exhibit and it is the responsibility of the caretakers to keep them properly fed, watered, and clean. Exhibiters will be provided with a pass that will give free admittance to the fair.
Goats must arrive before the show on Saturday, but will not be permitted to stay overnight on fair grounds
Small animals must arrive between 2-4PM on Friday, October 17
Poultry/Fowl: All poultry entered for exhibition should appear healthy and be free from external parasites. Any bird which does not meet these standards should be immediately removed from the exhibit. All poultry being exhibited must be tested for Salmonella Pullorum within 90 days of the exhibition. It is requested that poultry show superintendents notify VDACS’s Office of Veterinary Services at least 4 weeks in advance of any poultry shows so that the birds congregated at the shows may be tested by VDACS employees for avian influenza (AI) surveillance.
Goats: Goats should be free of clinical symptoms of caseous lymphadenitis—abscesses of the lymph nodes, whether draining or not. All female and castrated male goats (no bucks allowed) must carry official USDA identification , which must be listed on the CVI.
