Campers have the opportunity to explore new classes. Choices are listed below.
When you sign up for classes, you'll be asked to rank your classes from your first choice (#1) to choice (#10).
Campers may be assigned to any of those choices.
Air Rifle: After a few days of instruction you might be 4-H Camp’s next “Top Shot.” Learn sportsmanship as you compete with your fellow classmates. This class is run under the instruction of a trained, qualified instructor while focusing on SAFETY, shooting, and marksmanship skills. *Closed-toe shoes required.
Animal Science: Explore the amazing world of animals—big and small. From mammals to reptiles and everything in between, you’ll uncover the science behind the creatures we share our world with—and maybe even discover your inner zoologist!
Archery: What do fletching, quivers, and Robin Hood all have in common? Find out when you learn basic archery skills in this class taught by a trained instructor. Class will have a strong emphasis on SAFETY and mastery. *Closed-toe shoes required.
Arts & Crafts: A camp tradition!! Experience a variety of different mediums such as paint, clay, fabric, metal, wood, and yarn, while creating your own masterpieces.
Basketball: Get ready to dribble, pass, and shoot on the NEWLY REFURBISHED camp courts. Then scrimmage each other to see how your skills have improved. *Closed-toe shoes required.
Cast Iron Cooking: Get ready to cook up some excitement! In this hands‑on summer camp class, participants will prepare tasty meals and snacks over an open fire while learning a variety of outdoor cooking techniques. Best of all—they’ll enjoy the delicious results of their hard work! *Closed-toe shoes required.
Canoeing: A paddle, a life jacket, and a canoe – it doesn’t get much better than this! Come to class prepared to learn some basic canoeing strokes, safety, and have fun as you navigate the wild, wonderful waters of Lake Culpeper! If you are lucky, you might even get to go for a dip if you choose to tip your canoe on the last day. *Old shoes, water shoes or strapped sandals required (Crocs WITH heel strap are okay).
Creeks & Critters: Take this class if you are interested in exploration, adventure, discovery, and “wow” moments. With nature as our classroom, we will spend time investigating Happy Creek, hiking on the Appalachian Trail, building habitats for wildlife, exploring the diversity of life that Lake Culpeper supports, and more!
Day Spa: Relax and refresh. Find your inner Zen, breathe deep for relaxation and make bath salts to sooth your tired feet. *essential oils will be used in this class
Fishing: Baiting your hook, casting lines, and reelin' 'em in are the essentials of fishing class. No experience necessary!!
Fitness Fun: Strengthen your head, heart, hands, and health through fitness. Have a ball as you take part in some of the most popular camp games and activities , including Yoga, Gau-Gau, pickle-ball and more! Perfect for those who want to learn the basics and rules of the games or just get active. *Closed-toe shoes required.
Flight School: Learn to design and build paper airplanes, launch straw rockets, and experience the exciting technology of drones.
High Elements Challenge Course* (High Ropes): With proper safety equipment, and under the watchful eye of trained facilitators, adventurers can scale the Climbing Wall and take a Leap of Faith from a light pole. This is a two period class. *Closed-toe shoes required. (must be 12 or older as of June 5, 2026 to participate) Additional $5 fee due at camp check-in if selected.
Leadership: Leadership is more than a title: do you have what it takes? Have fun practicing communication, cooperation, and leadership in 4-H style. There will be team challenges, problems to solve, and plenty of chances for you to influence others. All 8th graders will be FCCs (Future Camp Counselors) and should sign up for this class.
LEGO Builders: See what you can build and what challenges you can solve. Catapults, simple machines and creative masterpieces await.
Low Ropes Challenge Course: Learn to communicate, test your skills, and work together as you tackle elements on our Low Challenge course. Just don’t get stuck in the Spider Web! *Closed-toe shoes required.
Magic Class: Take an amazing adventure into the exciting world of magic!! Learn the art of illusion, sleight of hand, make new friends, send coded messages and more
Multimedia: Lights, camera, action… and byline! Snap amazing photos, step into the world of reporting—interview campers, teens, and staff, write articles, and create our very own camp newspaper. Your work will be showcased at the camp closing ceremony for everyone to enjoy!
Outdoor Living Skills (OLS): Learn the skills it takes to thrive and survive in the outdoors. Pitching tents, hiking, and fire building are all things you will tackle in this class! There's an optional camp-out one night with s’mores and learning about the stars that exist in the night sky! *Closed-toe shoes required.
Painting: Unleash your creativity in this fun and inspiring painting class! With step‑by‑step guidance from the instructor, participants will create two unique works of art—a small keepsake canvas and a larger landscape painting. Get ready to explore colors, techniques, and your own artistic style!
Performing Arts: Let’s take the stage and make some noise! Dive into the performing arts through improv games, creative skits, hands-on percussion and music activities. Build confidence, express yourself, and have a blast doing it.
Swimming, Beginner: For campers with little or no swimming experience, or who are not comfortable in depths over 4 feet, this class will help you learn to have fun in the water. Covers basic strokes, learning to swim under water, floating, and treading water.
Swimming, Intermediate: For campers who can swim unaided across the pool and feel comfortable in depths over 4 feet, this class will cover more advanced strokes, use the diving board, and other fun water activities.
Tie Dye* : Scrunch, bunch, twist, and fold...design your own wearable art through the medium of tie-dye. Express yourself in the most fun, vibrant way. Participants will need to bring 3 (100% cotton) items for this class.
Willy Wonka's Candy Factory: Participate in creative, hands-on candy themed educational experiences such as making mosaics, edible scenes, and designing new inventions using ingredients like gummies and chocolate.
