There is currently a Waitlist please contact leaders before registering for Bow Benders Archery.
Archery club focuses on all levels of archery in recurve and compound, competitions, leadership.
Archery club is for 4-H members who are 10 to 18 years old and residents of Fauquier County.
No, due to generous grants through the NRA foundation, the Club has equipment available for members to use. Use is on a first come, first served basis via our Sign Up Genius sign-up prior to practices.
Members should come ready to safely shoot. Comfortable clothing for the expected weather (we will be outdoors), closed toe shoes (no open toed sandals or crocks), and long hair will need to be pulled back from the face into an elastic. Earrings are not recommended, or must be small stud style (no dangles or large styles that could be caught by the bow string or arrow during fire).
Members should bring a water bottle (especially in the summer months) as it can get hot outside. Members are encouraged to bring their Project Books or a notebook to keep track of their scores during practice.
You will be greeted when you arrive by one or multiple of our instructors. You will first need to complete a safety exercise to make sure you can operate the equipment safely and understand the safety terms used on the firing line. After the safety brief, one of our instructors will help you find the correct bow for you and arrow length. We will also go over any questions to make sure you are comfortable before your first time on the firing line.
You will then have the chance to join the Club members practicing. We try to place members of similar skill level near each other on the firing line to assist in coaching through the practice time.
It is free to join and participate in the 4-H program. If the Club Member wishes to participate in any competition shoots there will be extra registration fees for those competitions. We do try to work with members that wish to participate in competitions so that the cost is not the deciding factor in their participation.
Yes, there is a wait list, and we are working to do everything we can to expand the number of active members we can have in the club. Unfortunately, the wait list is still quite long. We ask that you please be patient, and understand it could take more than one season before a slot opens up on the active roster.
The project book can be picked up in hard copy at a Practice or you can down load the pdf format from the Resources Page of our website.
You should contact our Club leaders, Nic and Hannah Wall at fauquierarchery@gmail.com. Thank you!
