Meeting Venue

The 2026 AfricaArray meeting will be held at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa from 12–13 January 2026.

There will be an optional hands-on Carpentries Workshop on 14 January 2026 at the University of Witwatersrand that covers topics on Shell and Git.  

Flights and Transportation

If a registrant's flight has not already been booked by the workshop organizers, the registrant is responsible for booking their own flight.  

Participants are responsible for arranging transportation to/from their departing airport in their home country. 

Details will be forthcoming about transportation to/from O. R. Tambo International Airport (JNB) in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

Oral Presentations and Posters

Oral presentations will be a total of 20 minutes in length. Please include time for questions within your allotted 20 minutes.  

Posters size can be up to 915 mm wide and up to 1220 mm tall (or 36″ wide x 48” tall).

Weather

In mid-January, Johannesburg typically experiences hot and humid summer weather with average daytime highs of 25-30 deg C (77-86 deg F) and low temperatures around 15 deg C (59 deg F).

Recordings

Through the use of Zoom, we will record presentations and discussions with AI speech interpretation to help us capture content for a workshop report.
