Employer eligibility and jobs
What is the eligibility criteria for employers?
Do you have positions available now? Will you have positions available on March 19? Do you want help writing job descriptions? You can attend this job fair!
Any employer can attend - participation is not limited to the DMV area.
What types of roles and position levels qualify for the job fair?
Any position that would suit an entry level or career change candidate e.g., internships and jobs. All positions must be paid.
We encourage in-person, hybrid and remote positions - your organization does not need to be based in Virginia, Maryland or D.C.
Roles can be technical (e.g., systems engineering) or non-technical (e.g., data protection and security awareness). See the FAQ for details.
Does this event include internships, part-time and contract opportunities?
Yes.
Can I exhibit for general outreach (without getting candidates 'matched' to me)?
Yes.
Can I come to scout for talent, to network and explore this as a prospect, even if I do not exhibit.
Yes you can. However, as this event is free to take part in we encourage (and will support) you to take an active role.
Do my jobs all have to be in the region, or are remote roles okay?
Any role, based anywhere in the United States is eligible.
Do my jobs need visa requirements?
No, but if your organization sponsors visas we will have candidates seeking those roles.
General
How many candidates will be there?
Expected participation is 200 candidates (100 in-person, 100 online).
What is the expected demographic?
Our entry-level candidates come from 4-year and community colleges
Our career changers are Virginians recruited via the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.
We will keep this section updated with candidate profiles as they are accepted to the event. (e.g., education level, work experience, security clearance, etc.).
What do you mean by pre-qualified candidates?
Candidates take an assessment before attending. This allows us to provide you with a profile that gives you an idea of what they have done and what they can do.
Candidates will be coached on professional presentation and how to take part in a job fair.
How do you plan to match candidates to employers or roles?
Employers provide skills-based internship/job descriptions, and candidates do a skills-based assessment. Candidates are matched with descriptions that may a good fit for them based on the skills they have.
We provide support with editing existing internship and job descriptions into a skills-based format, and creating new ones from scratch.
Is there a maximum number of matches by candidate or employer?
Not yet.
Are there any costs associated with exhibiting.
This event is free for employers to attend.
There are costs - we ask you for time, swag, and information on your hiring processes and materials (i.e., internship/job descriptions).
Do I get a list of those who register and or attend?
You will get a resume book, and the event booklet will have an attendee list.
Do you plan more events in same or other locations?
Watch this space.
