The 4-H Next Generation Entrepreneurs is a collaborative effort between the Warrenton Farmers Market and Fauquier Cooperative Extension. Youth ages 9 - 19 can participate in this program which will foster entrepreneurship skills and include an opportunity for them to put those skills into action and earn some real money. Participants learn how to do market research, develop their brand, and market themselves and their products. This program will culminate with youth participants selling their products at the Warrenton Farmers Market.
Enthusiastic entrepreneurs age 9 - 19. In 2025, the program will be expanded to include sessions prior to the first youth market, as well as a project book each participant will complete. There are limited spaces available at the market, and we hope to expand to other markets in future years.
Youth will participate in educational sessions to help foster their entrepreneurship skills. Then they will sell their products at the Warrenton Farmers Market. Youth can sell products in any of the following categories:
Homegrown foods - fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs
Flowers
Home Baked Goods
Jams & Jellies
Arts & Crafts
Jewelry
Handmade Goods
It is FREE to participate in this project and youth vendors keep all of the proceeds from their participation at the Farmers Market. Please make sure you have read and understand all of the expectations before signing up and committing to full participation in this project.
The 4-H Next Generation Farmers Markets will take place in Parking Lot A at the corner of Lee and Ashby Street at the Warrenton Farmers Market.
There will be five opportunities for participants to sell their products at the Warrenton Farmers Market (First Saturdays in May - September). Participants will have the opportunity to sell at at least one of those markets and can preference at which markets they would like to sell. We will try to find spaces for those that would like to sell at more than one market. Please check out the schedule page to see the full details.
