2025 Camp Class Options
On Monday campers will be able to choose 3 of the following classes to take on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The following classes will require closed toe shoes-archery, riflery, challenge course, small animal science, shotgun. The canoeing class will require campers to pass the swim test on Monday.
2025 Camp Store
During rec times the camp store will be open. Campers will be able to purchase drinks, snacks, and various 4-H items. We recommended about $30-50 for the week if you want your child to purchase anything from the store. The list of items available will be listed here as soon as it is available.
Camp Pick Up and Drop Off
Camp pick and drop off will happen at Portsmouth City Park located at
Cpl J M Williams Ave,
Portsmouth, VA 23701
When you arrive please follow the 4-H signs to the twin shelters. During the check in prosses there will be three stations.
Station 1: Luggage tags and name tags
Station 2: Meds (you can print and fill out the form before check in here)
Station 3: Camp bank
When dropping off you will be given a pick up form. Only the names you list on that form will be authorized for pick up. When we get back on Friday you will return the pick up form. The exact times will be decided on soon.
Camp Mail
If you wish to send mail to your camper please address it to

Just a warning, in order to ensure mail arrives during camp it is recommended to send it the week before. Alternatively you can send an email to armartin@vt.edu containing your camp message and we will make sure it gets to the camper.
What to Pack for Camp
Be sure to bring only the things you need.
We recommend labeling everything.
The morning of camp we will have tags for luggage bags
Sleeping bag OR twin sheets and a blanket
Pajamas
Pillow and pillow case
A hat
Two bath towels, pool towel and washcloth
Swimsuits
T-Shirts
1 or 2 pairs of shoes *
Shorts and or pants
Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo
Socks
Sunscreen
Rain gear (light jacket)
Large trash bag for dirty clothes (Label w/ tape)
* Tennis shoes are required!! Many of the camp
classes require closed toe shoes, sandals can be worn to the pool
