4-H Camp is co-ed for campers in 3rd - 8th grade during the 2023-2024 school year. Campers must turn 9 by 9/30/2025 and must be no older than 13 on 9/30/2025. Camp is open to King George, Caroline, and Spotsylvania County residents. Registration is now open and is a first-come, first-served.
We will be at 100% capacity this year!! Campers can request roommates, and we will do our best to accommodate these requests.
Every morning at camp, campers will rotate through camp classes. We will offer six different tracks of classes and we will try our best to accommodate class track requests.
There is free swimming and recreation time each day, as well as evening programs and a campfire.
Each room will be a "den" that serves as the camper’s “family” during the week of camp. Several dens will make a pack that will rotate through camp activities together and be involved in different contests on various days. Bear Claws are awarded for spirit, participation, and demonstrations of good character!
We will still have special evening programs and campfires, but these activities will take place in the large outdoor recreation areas. What happens if it rains? Well, just like rainy days at camp in the past, we will find activities to fill the time and we will still maintain proper safety precautions.
Each year we recruit high school students (14 and older) to serve as counselors for our camp. These teens, as well as our adult volunteers, 4-H Extension Staff, and 4-H Center Staff complete a training series and are tested on core concepts before attending camp. Our staff is trained according to the American Camp Association requirements and you can rest assured that your child will have a safe, enjoyable experience at 4-H Camp!
4-H Camp will operate at 100% capacity this year. Campers will be able to develop a deeper connection with the members in their classes as they travel throughout the day with this group.
We will be following the current guidelines from the Governor's office at the time of camp. Please do not send a sick child to camp.
Our team is continually utilizing several resources to adapt operations this season including: The American Camp Association, Virginia Department of Health, Association for Camp Nurses and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Virginia’s 4-H camping program is recognized throughout the nation as a leader in 4-H camping programs. Each of the six Virginia 4-H Educational Centers has achieved and maintains American Camp Association (ACA) accreditation.
Parents and guardians should always look for the ACA seal when selecting a camp for their child to attend. Only about 25 percent of all camps in the nation are accredited by the ACA, the recognized camp accreditation organization in the United States. Having ACA accreditation means that the camp meets the highest standards for safety, food service and staffing, health care, and program quality.
Each 4-H Educational Center maintains these standards annually. Additionally, all 300 standards are reviewed every three years for reaccreditation. Each 4-H center program staff person, as well as the adult and teen 4-H volunteers who participate in camp, are carefully selected and trained prior to the camping event.
