Course Description
This subject is one of the Criminalistic subjects offered under the program of BS Criminology. The old curriculum referred to it as Polygraph Examination, whereas the new curriculum refers to it as Lie Detection Technique. The Lie Detection Technique is an investigative technique and means used by investigators to conduct an examination on an individual whose truthfulness in his statement is called into question. It is done to provide substantial evidence that will aid in the determination of facts in a specific situation. It is carried out by asking a series of questions to the subject, who is a witness, victim, or suspect in the crime under investigation, using a polygraph instrument attached to the subject's body. This instrument is used to record changes in the physiological reactions of the subject under examination as he answers the Polygraph Examiner's series of questions. This also includes the Polygraph Instrument and its operation, the formulation and construction of test questions, the rules governing the admissibility of polygraph test results, and interrogation techniques and tactics.
