Accelerated Math & 6 Math:

This week we practiced finding areas of composite shapes. We had a GLOW room activity! Pictures are in the "Student Work and Accomplishment" tab. We also started discussions of 3-dimensional shapes and nets. 

Reading

In Reading, students have begun reading a new story on Amplify from Greek mythology of Minerva vs. Arachne. It is a story that teaches a lesson to those with pride and vanity.

Writing

In Writing, students acted out one of the largest chapters in the book called "Circe," where Ulysses and his men have to deal with a magical sorceress who turns men into animals.

This week we made our solar ovens and updated our science websites. We will continue working on solar ovens and learning about weather.

Geography

We finished our study of the rainforest and deforestation with a data story comparing information about annual rain levels around the world. Connections were made about how the rainfall from the rainforest is vitally needed to maintain normal temps around the world.
