Reading

In Reading, students are beginning a new Amplify unit focusing on Greek Mythology. Below is the layout of our new weekly schedule:

Monday: Library/Read and work days

Tuesday: Read/Vocab (Vocab has two assignments due by the end of the week. Picture This on Google Classroom, paper practice due in class.

Wednesday: Amplify lesson

Friday: Vocab summative quiz, Amplify

Writing

In Writing, students are beginning a class literature set called The Adventures of Ulysses. Each chapter will be read in class and will have written response questions for each chapter. The story is also Greek Mythology and will have certain chapters where students are able to act out different roles while we read.

Science

This week we started learning about solar energy, heat transfer, and insulation. We will be making solar ovens in class to heat up s'mores. I am excited to see what everyone comes up with. We updated our science websites and created a blog page for our solar ovens.

We learned about deforestation and the effects on plants, animals, and humans. We read a story and created a graphic organizer including organisms that live there and how they are effected by deforestation.
