This week we practiced applying ratios to problems. We also used ratios in tables, graphs and equations. Due to the snow day we will skip the quiz and have a unit test on Friday, February 21.

ELA
Reading
In Reading, students are continuing their work with the yellow fever investigation. Last week, students practiced an autopsy on pickles similar to the way the doctors had to perform on yellow fever patients.
Writing
In Writing, students are wrapping up our portion of the X-Men and mutant part of our X-Men/Civil Rights Unit. They are analyzing how mutant discrimination is similar to historical events.
Science
This week we practiced writing scientific explanations. We finished the week practicing engineering design. Students participated in Valentine's day station activities that covered a variety of science concepts and skills.

Geography

We are learning about the Richter and Mercalli scales for rating earthquakes. We are using real raw data from world earthquakes to create data stories and build graphics.
Most of all, we made Kahoot games to present our key earthquake terms to the class!
