December 9 - 13, 2024

Accelerated Math:

This week we finished Topic 4 over equations and inequalities. We practiced using independent and dependent variables to write equations and graph. The test was on Friday and grades in Infinite Campus will be updated as soon as possible. 

6 Math:

This week we practiced solving one-step equations. We also had a quiz on Friday and grades will be updated in Infinite Campus as soon as possible. 

Reading

In Reading, students are wrapping up their summative assignments for the year. We had the Figurative Language post test on Wednesday. For Friday, they are going to do their final Scary Story reading with questions and a C.E.R. Lastly, they need to complete their One Pager book report by the end of the quarter.

Writing

In Writing, students are finishing their Holocaust mini-unit by doing a literary analysis over a survivor story. We will be wrapping up with a Socratic seminar on Monday discussing multiple Holocaust topics. Students took their iReady diagnostic last week.

This week we did an introduction to genetics by making elves and using simulations based around inheritance. Next week we will dissect frogs for our final. Students may opt out  and do an online simulation.

We worked on creating our first data story with data we created in our own class! We bulleted it, charted it, and wrote about it. 

We finished our study of volcanoes with an article about the formation of the Hawaiian Islands.
