The Writer Response is a short play initiative to meet and engage with early-career writers by mounting six, 8-10-minute, response plays to Positive and professionally staging them. This response initiative is open call, but we will be prioritising submissions from those that have attended our workshops. At the end of the sharing, there will then be a panel discussion/Q&A with our Temi Majekodunmi.
With POSITIVE’s themes exploring the Black Queer experience, these commissions are specifically for Black Queer* creatives to address under-representation in the UK theatre industry. We want to keep creating brave and bold spaces for voices we don’t often hear from to tell stories that aren’t often heard.
*We identify Black as being of Black African, Black Caribbean, African American, Black South American and Indigenous Polynesian, Australian and Melanesian descent.
We identify Queer as being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Pansexual, Queer.
