Meet Miss Taylor!

Hi! My name is Miss Taylor, and I am so excited and grateful to be back at Empresa Elementary as a student teacher in Mrs. Arvidson’s class!

I was actually a student in Mrs. Arvidson’s 2nd grade class, so returning to the same school where I grew up makes this experience extra special. I am currently earning my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master of Education with a STEAM/STEM emphasis at National University. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from UCLA in 2018.

I have always loved working with children and helping them develop their curiosity, confidence, and love of learning. I especially enjoy bringing art and creativity into all subject areas to make learning meaningful, accessible, and fun!

🥾 A Fun Fact About Me!

In 2025, I backpacked the entire Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada! 🌲🏔️

In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, trail running, reading, and painting.

I am so excited to be back at Empresa, learning from Mrs. Arvidson and getting to know all of the wonderful students and families. It is such a special feeling to return to the elementary school I attended as a child!

Welcome Back Letter

💜 Become a Volunteer in Room 31!

We love having family volunteers in our classroom! Volunteers are an important part of making our classroom a wonderful place to learn. Before volunteering, there are a few required steps that must be completed each school year.

⭐ NEW REQUIREMENT: Volunteer Mandated Reporter Training

Beginning July 1, 2026, California Senate Bill 848 requires school volunteers who may be alone with students to complete Mandated Reporter Training every year.

This training helps adults recognize possible signs of child abuse and neglect and understand their responsibility in helping keep all students safe.

Volunteers have TWO options for completing the training:

OPTION 1: Attend a Group Training

Empresa staff will provide the training, and volunteers will sign in as documentation of completion.

📍 MPR — In person, following Friday Flag

📅 Thursday, August 27 | 5:00–6:00 PM
💻 Zoom
Please REGISTER HERE in advance to receive the Zoom link.

OPTION 2: Complete the Training Online

Volunteers who are not VUSD employees will be able to create a Keenan SafeSchools account and complete the training independently online.

Information and the link for this option will be provided in an upcoming newsletter.

If you choose the individual online training, you must print your Certificate of Completion and turn it in to the school office for annual documentation.

💜 Other Volunteer Requirements

Before volunteering in our classroom, please make sure you have completed ALL of the following:

✅ Volunteer Application

Complete the VUSD School Volunteer Application.

Download the VUSD School Volunteer Application

✅ Mandated Reporter Training

Complete the annual training through either the group training or Keenan SafeSchools online training.

✅ Driver's License

Please bring your driver's license to the school office for scanning each time you enter the school site.

✅ TB Clearance

Provide proof of your required TB test/clearance.

✅ Volunteer Schedule

A volunteer schedule must be created and shared with the school office before you come to school to work with students.

⏰ Volunteer Start Times

Monday–Thursday: 8:10 AM
This allows our office time to check in late-arriving students.

Friday: 8:45 AM

Once the office has received your volunteer schedule, application, required documentation, and completed processing, you are welcome to begin volunteering!
