Session #3- April 22nd
Located in the Ethereal Realm is a place, The Baalzepub, a unique establishment in the whole of the known universe. There, a powerful mage set up an establishment for their enjoyment. An Inn that housed the contestants in the Hero Battles! Snatched from across time and space, heroes are brought here to battle! Who will win the Gold and Glory!?!?!
We use the DnD 5e rules for character creation.
Your background and backstory can be whatever you wish, as long as it includes how you were brought to the Baalzepub.
You must present a complete character sheet (weigh-in) to enter the competition. Here is one we use in GU.
Baal, an insectoid life form and keeper of Baalzepub.

Spellcasting
PHB Spells only: Spell Casters include the page number for the spell you are using on your character sheet.
Spellcasters who use spell components must buy a spell focus. They also must buy a spell component pouch (25 gp; PHB pg 151) for each session.
You must account for any specifically listed Gold Piece cost for a spell component.
We will be using the Dungeon Masters Guide (DMG 38; high magic campaign) page on outfitting higher-level characters to generate gear and equipment. As you spend the gold to outfit your character, keep an itemized list of the items you purchase on your character sheet. No list, no entry to the arena.
Gold- 6000 to be spent on items, gear, and magic (Common or uncommon Items only on Creation); use the PHB and DMG listed prices;
One Uncommon magic item from the DMG (does not cost gold);
and all normal starting equipment (listed on the class page).
Don't have a DMG for Magic items? You can use this web resource;--> [donjon]
Magic Items based on Rarity: DMG pg 135
Common: One use Item (like a potion or scroll) 50 gp; a standard item 75 gp, an attunable* Item 100gp
Uncommon: One use Item (like a potion or scroll) 225 gp; a standard item 375 gp; an attunable* item 500 gp
Rare (access only with a Glory point): One use Item (like a potion or scroll) 2500 gp; a standard item 3,750 gp; an attunable* item 5000 gp
*A note on Attunement (DMG pg 136-137): You must meet any prerequisites for the listed item and you may only have 3 items attuned at a time and never two of the same item.
When competing, Heroes gain glory and gold. When you win, you gain 500 Gold and 125 Experience points (EXP) for each battle won. When you lose, you gain 125 gold and 500 exp. We often learn more from losing than from winning.
Win: earn 500 gold and 125 experience points
Lose: earn 125 gold and 500 experience points
🔱Glory points are awarded for exceptional Role-Playing. At the end of every session, the table votes for the best-role-played character. They are awarded an "Inspiration Point" (Inspiration: PHB pg 125). We call it a Glory point in the Hero Battles.
The Inspiration point can be held and used in future Sessions. The glory/inspiration points can also be spent to buy Rare magic items, experience, or gold instead. Once spent or used in-game, the point is lost. Unlike normal rules, there may be multiple players with an Inspiration/Glory point in any single session.
