Linear Perspective Drawing

Linear perspective was invented during the Renaissance by Filippo Brunelleschi. Leonardo Davinci used linear perspective in his painting "The Last Supper" and Ralphael's "School of Athens". Students were excited to learn more about the Renaissance and how it influenced our society.

Ms. Graessle taught 6th graders how to draw simple shapes and match them up to a vanishing point. Once students mastered this idea, they began closing the forms. Once they were comfortable doing that, they used overlapping to increase the illusion of depth in the drawing. The final drawing with Ms. Graessle will be a drawing of a city from one point perspective.

Students will use all skills learned to create their own unique linear perspective drawing. They will have access to a portfolio of helpful images and minimum requirements posted to complete a one point perspective drawing of anything they would like.
