Speech and language services are delivered in a variety of ways at the elementary school level. Services are provided monthly (3, 6, 9 times), for 10 or 30 minutes per session, as determined by the Speech and Language therapist.
Building-level services are speech and language services offered to children with mild speech and/or language difficulties that have an academic impact. The services can range from once a month to three times per month. Sessions can be from 10 min to 30 minutes in length. This type of service is considered an Academic Intervention Service (AIS) and is available to any student that has been identified through our school's Response to Intervention (MTSS) process.
Related speech and language services are provided to students who have gone through the Committee on Special Education and were identified as needing specific speech and language services to access the curriculum. Therapy is provided in the areas of articulation/oral motor, pragmatic language, receptive language, and/or expressive language.
