The RULER Implementation Team (RIT) at each school will participate in a 6-week RULER Institute Online (RIO) training to learn about RULER implementation. Each weekly training is a live, lasts approximately 1-hr, and will be recorded to share with the larger team. This team will then train the other educators in their schools, while supported by RULER coaches from Yale. Only adults use RULER in their school during this first year of implementation.
The RIT will consist of the principal and at least two other staff members (of the principal's choice). Other staff members may be assistant principals, instructional coaches, collaborative team leaders, teacher-leaders, etc. The max RIT size is 5 people. Please visit the RULER website here for more guidance on forming your RITs.
RITs will participate in a half-day RULER Institute Online training to learn about how to bring the Anchor tools and Feeling Words Curriculum (FWC) into classrooms. Again, the RIT will train all the other teachers in the school. Teachers will then use the RULER program (including Anchor tools and FWC) in their classrooms with their students throughout the year while supported by RULER coaches.
If your school is in the waitlist comparison group, your school will participate in only data collection during the study years and then receive RULER training and implementation as described above in school year 2023-2024 (Cohorts 2 & 3) after data collection is complete.
