After-School Activities

At MS 226 we have many activities and clubs to choose from. Whether you are into sports, art, music, theater, politics or you just want to find a group to talk to, there is a club for you. Look below for a list of clubs/teams that we usually offer on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

  • Girls Like Us

  • Anime

  • Sports Foundations

  • Alvin Ailey

  • Soccer

  • Basketball

  • Drawing

  • Creative Dance

  • Band

  • Cooking

  • Cosmetology

  • Poetry

But wait...there's more. These clubs usually meet on other days. As you can see, there's always something fun to do after-school at 226.

This will be our 5th year as a Broadway Jr. School. In the past, we have performed "Peter Pan", "Hairspray", "Lion King" and "Once On This Island". Our cast and crew are a mix of singers, dancers, actors, set designers, fashion designers and tech crew. This club usually meets on different days, so our members can join other clubs. We always try to fit in a Broadway show too!!!

Rainbow Book Club

This is an LGBTQ+ book club where students and staff come together to read, discuss, and take action. In this club, we aim to make MS 226 more inclusive and supportive for our LGBTQ+ community and their allies.

Last year, we had a very strong student council. They created a place to gather ideas and concerns. They realized that there was a need for more clubs and actually made it happen. They organized Game Nights, Movie Nights and Workshops. At 226 we foster student leaders and this club is where you can find some of the best.

Are we missing something? If so, we can usually find a facilitator if you and a group of friends want to start a new club.
