Instructional Focus
Teachers across disciplines will engage students at high-level classroom discussions that are characterized by collectively synthesizing information, ideas, and perspectives; challenging misconceptions and assumptions; and supporting their own interpretations with evidence.
6th Grade: Discovery and Exploration Academy
This hub for 6th graders allows students to explore the middle school experience through rigor, discipline, creativity and culture aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards and Next Generation Standards.

7th Grade: Humanities and Performing Arts Academy
This academy showcases the talent in our youngsters with performances/displays in music, art, dance, poetry, and drama while continuing to engage students in academic rigor around the Common Core Learning Standards and Next Generation Standards.

8th Grade: Renaissance Academy
This academy engages students in print and digital media. Students utilize elements of print and digital media to develop projects and displays in a student newsletter, video broadcast, and student comic book/magazine, while continuing to engage students in academic rigor around the Common Core Learning Standards and Next Generation Standards. Student photographs from this academy are currently housed throughout the building and some are on display at John F. Kennedy International Airport-Terminal 4.
