We moved to Abingdon in 2012, drawn to the beauty of the Southwest Virginia mountains and the charm of this special community. Over the years, we’ve come to appreciate the area's rich history, welcoming atmosphere, outdoor adventures, and vibrant local arts scene.

Yes! Villas At The Colony is a family-owned business, and our family is a big part of the heart behind what we do.

After moving to Abingdon in 2012, we fell in love with the mountains, the community, and the opportunity to build a life here. Over the years, we've learned how important it is to be intentional with our time, invest in the people we love, and create meaningful experiences together.

Our children are involved in both of our family businesses, giving them opportunities to learn valuable real-world skills. From marketing and accounting to business management, property maintenance, and the many responsibilities that come with running a business, we're helping them understand what it takes to build and maintain something through hard work, responsibility, and teamwork.

The Colony Co. honey is another little piece of our family's life here in Abingdon! Our family cares for honeybee hives on our own property in the Abingdon area, where we enjoy learning about beekeeping and sharing the experience together.

Our children are involved in The Colony Co. and have opportunities to learn about beekeeping while developing practical business skills. Along with helping with the honey, they gain hands-on experience with marketing, accounting, business management, and the responsibilities involved in operating a small business. These lessons help us teach entrepreneurship, financial stewardship, responsibility, and the value of working together as a family.

We offer raw, unfiltered local honey for guests to enjoy during their stay, and jars are also available for purchase in your Villa. Although our hives are not located at Villas At The Colony, The Colony Co. is one more way we love sharing a little piece of our family's life in Abingdon.

For us, these businesses are about more than providing a service or product. They're also opportunities to learn, grow, and build something meaningful together as a family.
